According to market research firm Counterpoint’s Smartphone 360 Monthly Tracker, International smart fone Xiaomi has become the second largest company in terms of volume in the market. Xiaomi has left Apple behind for the first time in three years. Xiaomi has been helped by increasing demand in markets like India. The company has benefited from the launch of Redmi 13 and Redmi Note 13 series in the sub-$200 price category. There has been no major change in Xiaomi’s shipments last month, but due to the decline in Apple’s sales before the launch of the iPhone 16 series, Xiaomi has been able to achieve second place. However, due to increasing demand for iPhone 16 series in the coming months, Apple may regain the second position.
Counterpoint reported that Xiaomi’s growth has been strong in the first half of this year. The company’s smartphone volumes in the first half grew by nearly 22 percent on a year-on-year basis. However, Xiaomi’s growth may decline in the second half due to base effect.
Earlier this month, Apple launched the iPhone series. Pre-orders for these smartphones started last week. The company’s demand for iPhone 16 Plus of this series has increased the most compared to previous iPhones. Apple is receiving less pre-orders for iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Ming-Chi Kuo, analyst at TF Securities, said in a blog post that demand for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus has increased on a year-on-year basis compared to similar models in the previous series. Apple has received about 10 percent more demand for pre-orders for iPhone 16 and about 48 percent more demand for iPhone 16 Plus in the first weekend. Sales on the first weekend of pre-order of the iPhone 16 series are estimated to be around 37 lakh units. This is about 12.7 percent less than the iPhone 15 series introduced last year.
