The company’s iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 series are getting good response from customers.
Smartphone shipments in the country in the first half of the current year increased by 7.2 percent on year-on-year basis to about 69 million units. Smartphone shipments in the second quarter grew by about 3.2 percent to about 35 million units. According to the report of market research firm International Data Corporation (IDC), many new smartphones have been launched in the second quarter. Most of these were in the mid-premium and premium segments. However, shipments of entry-level smartphones (priced below Rs 8,400) declined by about 36 percent in the second quarter. The market share of these segments has come down to around 14 percent from 22 percent in the same quarter last year. In this, Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has the first place. After this there are Poco and Realme. Shipments in the budget segment of smartphones (priced around Rs 8,400 to Rs 16,800) have grown by about 8 percent.
